Visitors come from all over the world to experience the Christmas markets in Prague, home of Good King Wenceslas. Amongst the elegant historical buildings, Christmas trees are ablaze with lights and numerous stalls sell wonderful gifts including wooden toys, ornaments, jewellery, embroidered lace and dolls in traditional costumes. The delicious aromas from mulled wine, a warm honey liquor called medovina, fresh cooked pastries and spit roasts will certainly lure you to try some.
You will also visit the markets in the nearby small town of Kutna Hora which enkindles the festive spirit with its historical centre listed by UNESCO and is dominated by the majestic church of St Barbara. This was once the second most important town in the Kingdom of Bohemia and is an unknown gem waiting to be discovered. With a folklore show and an evening dinner cruise on the Vltava River, which inspired Smetana, Prague during advent is an experience not to be missed!
