    Description

Sicily's position in the Mediterranean, just off the toe of Italy's boot, gives the island a varied landscape with tropical greens, dry browns and volcanic rock. The eastern part of the island is dominated by Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. Sicily has been home to many great Mediterranean civilisations, reflected in its diverse architecture with Greek temples, Norman churches and Baroque palazzi, yet its towns and cities are extraordinarily cosmopolitan.

This gentle paced holiday focusses on three centres. Palermo, the capital of the island, is situated in the north where you will stay in Mondello, Palermo's beach resort. Agrigento, on Sicily's south-west shore, is known for the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while Giardini Naxos, located on the east coast, provides a great location for visiting Taormina, Syracuse, Etna and the beautiful Aeolian islands. With Sicily's combination of historic cities, archaeological sites and laid back beach resorts, the holiday gives a real sense of the diverse friendly culture the island has to offer and includes all those extra touches our guests have come to expect.
