    Description

Spend seven nights in a five-star hotel in the mild climate of Montreux, called the capital of the Vaud Riviera, where plants associated with the Mediterranean, such as pines, cypresses and palm trees grow. The long, flower-bordered lake promenade which links Vevey and Montreux, stretching all the way to Chillon Castle is simply asking to be strolled along. The terraced vineyards of Lavaux above Montreux produce fine wines that the Swiss prefer to keep to themselves.

Lake Geneva lies between the Swiss and Savoy Alps and offers views to some of Europe’s highest peaks. Enjoy lunch on board a vintage Belle Époch steamship and on other days enjoy the surrounding scenery by taking the Rochers-de-Naye Cog Railway, the Glacier 3000 cable car to view the highest peaks of the Alps and visit the lakeside towns of Vevey and Lausanne. Away from the lake we travel the valleys in first class on the Golden Pass Line, one of the region’s most scenic train journeys.

We include visits to the fascinating Olympic Museum, Charlie Chaplin’s mansion and Chillon Castle, which inspired poetry by Lord Byron, and enjoy a farewell dinner in a family-run restaurant overlooking the terraced vineyards. As well as Chaplin, Freddie Mercury, Phil Collins, Shania Twain and several other famous people lived and continue to live on the Vaud Riviera. Here, you will be in good company!
