    Description

This holiday gives you time to enjoy some of the villages and countryside that lie close to the Saxon capital of Dresden, including Meissen, home of the famous porcelain, and a cruise on the Elbe River. There will also be a chance to taste Saxon wines, the area being well-known for its Gold Riesling. Enjoy a scenic horse and sleigh ride around the Moritzburg Hunting Lodge followed by a steam train ride. Painstakingly restored after German reunification, Dresden has become a shining gem with its rich architecture, history and wealth of magnificent treasures. The skyline is dominated by the dome of the beautifully restored Frauenkirche. Dresden is filled with festive aromas from its famous Christmas market (home to the original stollen cake) where you can browse the stalls to the sounds of traditional live music. We include dinner on Christmas Day in a restaurant at the Rococo Zwinger Palace, the gallery and festival arena of the Saxon Court, after a beautiful performance of The Nutcracker in the stunning setting of the famous Semper Opera House.
