Travel Day of Action

As summer begins, the UK’s travel and tourism sector faces another challenging moment. Before the pandemic hit our industry was a cornerstone of the UK economy, enabling tens of millions to travel overseas for leisure, business and to reunite with family and friends. We know that it can be this way again. However, the pandemic has caused unprecedented turbulence, with the world closing its doors and international travel being a frustrating guessing game. Our industry has had nowhere near the level of support needed to deal with the devastating impact of this crisis.

At One Traveller we have, to a certain extent, adjusted to the times, introducing more domestic holidays, being transparent and flexible regarding holiday cancellations and adopting a cautious approach to the resumption of international holidays. We look forward to the world opening up to allow our guests to explore freely again.

Today the travel industry is coming together for a day of action to put pressure on the UK Government to support a safe return to international travel in time for the peak summer period.

We are calling on the Government to:

  • Allow international travel safely and in a risk managed way by properly implementing the Global Travel Taskforce’s plan.
  • Bring forward a package of tailored financial support to recognise that unlocking international travel, and hence business’s ability to trade and generate income, will be much slower than first anticipated, and more gradual than for businesses in the domestic economy.

You can show your support for One Traveller and the wider travel industry using the hash tags #traveldayofaction and #savefuturetravel. You can include us in your messages using @One_Traveller.
