One Traveller was formed in 2007 by Ian Darkin who had been working as a full time Tour Manager for 7 years. He started working as a Tour Manager in 2001 at the age of 26 for a Swedish Company (taking American School Children around the UK and Europe) and shortly after that began working for UK based companies taking groups of people (mainly Brits) around the World. To date he has escorted groups to many countries such as Thailand, USA, Australia, China, Russia, Vietnam, all over Europe, Cambodia (the list goes on).
It was during one these tours (which dealt mainly for couples) that Ian realised that amongst the couples were more and more single people that wanted to travel and were having to pay quite hefty single supplements in order to join a holiday. He also noticed that single travellers at times felt slightly awkward by being surrounded by couples. This gave him the idea to start a holiday company specialising in fully escorted tours for single travellers, and One Traveller was born.
One Traveller was put together for the sole purpose of allowing mature single travellers to go on fully escorted holidays with like-minded people in order to share experiences with others. The idea is to let the customer sit back and let experts show them around, arrange their schedules so the customer gets the most out of their holiday and all they have to do is enjoy the stress free travel experience safe in the knowledge that you will not miss any of the highlights...One Traveller takes care of everything.
From the moment the decision is made to book the holiday we will take care of all travel arrangements. All you have to do is pack your suitcase and get yourself to the airport where the Tour Manager helps you to check-in and the holiday begins.
In 2008 One Traveller specialised in fully escorted holidays for single travellers to the Golden City of Prague and in total took 125 people to Prague on their Prague City breaks showing them the most beautiful parts of the City and the countryside. Following on from here they added a 5 day City break to Krakow, Poland and 8 day tour to Prague, Vienna & Budapest.
Our Staff
All our staff are knowledgeable about the destinations that we offer including the hotels that we stay in. They are also very friendly and are there to answer any questions which you may have about the holiday or about travelling on your own. If you need advise then do give us a call.
PS. We could cheapen our tours by: making them shorter, expecting you to share a room, including more people, booking cheaper hotels & flights, taking you to less expensive restaurants, including fewer excursions or by employing less experienced Tour Managers, but we are One Traveller, not to be confused with the mass market companies. We treat our travellers as individuals and believe that they want and deserve a first class tour, not a second rate one.
