About Prague, Vienna & Budapest

ESCORTED SHORT BREAKS IN EUROPE FOR MATURE SINGLE TRAVELLERS: PRAGUE, VIENNA AND BUDAPEST HOLIDAYS:

AN INTRODUCTION TO PRAGUE, VIENNA & BUDAPEST

These three cities have much in common: the Hapsburgs ruled over them (and much territory besides) for hundreds of years.... in fact right up until the end of WW I. As a result certain parts of their cuisine are similar; as are elements of the architecture in all 3 countries (the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary); even the mannerisms of the people can sometimes be similar. However, looking past these similarities each city really does have its own unique identity.

Prague is a stunning yet small close knit city; you can really feel its smallness when you are walking around its compact centre. You’ll soon get to grips with it and you’ll soon feel comfortable. With many of its more famous attractions (Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, The Old Town Square and the Jewish Quarter) all within easy walking distance of each other. Of course Prague’s castle district is well worth a look in as it is far more than just a castle; Prague’s Cathedral (St. Vitus) is located within the castle grounds along with the Old Royal Palace and the Golden Lane. During the first 2 days of this tour you will see the highlights of our Prague short breaks tour before moving on to Vienna.
Outside Prague, there are many delightful towns and villages dotted about the scenic Czech countryside and on our ONE TRAVELLER Tale of Three Cities tour we get the opportunity to leave Prague to see this and also to call in at the delightful Czech town of Telc for a pleasant browse on our way to Vienna.

Vienna used to be the Capital of a huge empire: the Capital had to be impressive and it is! Holidays in Vienna are holidays to savour. Austria’s capital is completely out of scale to the rest of the country and it is very grand indeed. After coming from Prague, the city is quite intimidating at first glance. This capital city really does emanate style and grandness and just a glimpse of Schonbrunn Palace makes you realise that the Hapsburgs meant business. They were perhaps the richest Royal Family that ever existed. Our specially designed escorted short breaks in Europe for mature single travellers tour will spend 3 nights exploring Vienna with an organised sightseeing tour of the city on our Luxury Coach and an optional visit to Schonbrunn Palace to see how the other half used to live. Vienna is also commonly referred to as the Classical Music Capital of Europe with some of the greatest ever classical composers spending at least some of their lives in Vienna (Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and of course Strauss) – on our tour we will take you to see a great concert in one of Vienna’s many famous concert halls (should you wish to).
The Austrian countryside is very picturesque and ONE TRAVELLER will take you to the quaint Austrian town of Eisenstadt for a spot of relaxation on our journey from Vienna across to Budapest.

Budapest is cut in half by the River Danube splitting it into Buda and Pest. Many of Budapest’s major attractions can be seen from the river and at night time Budapest is simply the most attractive city in Europe. The atmosphere in the city is both Romantic and peaceful....completely different to Prague and Vienna. Budapest suffered badly at the hands of the Nazis during World War II and then the Russians and the city has been destroyed and rebuilt. The city is built on seven hills and the views you get looking down on the city are truly breathtaking. Come and see the Hungarian Parliament (where the Hungarian Crown Jewels are stored), the Old Royal Palace, the peaceful Castle District and come and cruise along the Danube at night time on our ONE TRAVELLER 3 cities tour. Budapest holidays are days to remember!
