This special one off, once in a lifetime holiday takes in the classical history of Beijing - the Chinese capital- and its imperial dynasties, the ancient Chinese history of Xi’an, the colonial history and modern wonderment of Shanghai and the majestic snow and Ice festival of Harbin in the far north of China.

Started in 1963 with just a small park, but since 1999 has expanded to cover an entire island in the Songhua River and is now the world’s largest snow and ice festival. The inspiration is taken from Chinese poetry, legends, history and recently the monuments and famous buildings of the world which include life-size Egyptian pyramids, German fairy tale castles and horse drawn sleds. The park is surrounded by a great Wall of ice which are also slides for all to try. It is estimated that over 5 million lights are used and the city utilizes thousands of people for a month to create the structures.
