Tour Managers specialising in Single Travellers
We know that our Tour Managers are extremely popular with our single travellers from the testimonials and feedback we receive from our guests following an escorted holiday.
This is no accident. We are aware that the quality of our Tour Managers is vital to the success of our single travellers holidays; consequently we go to a great deal of trouble to enlist the right people.
Without a highly competent TM all of the work carried out behind the scenes to organize top class escorted holidays for singles--and there is much, would be wasted.
We receive many job applications from aspiring Tour Managers, there appears to be a belief that it’s an occupation where one is permanently on holiday! This may appear so; an expert can make any job look easy! A Tour Manager’s job can in fact be very demanding but he or she needs to enjoy the work to be successful.
One Traveller will normaly only consider employing Tour Managers with a proven track record with a recognized travel company. It is standard practice to measure a Tour Managers performance by feedback from their travellers over a lengthy period of time an official record of which is kept.
A good feedback record is vitally important but not enough in itself. We consider the role of our Tour Managers to be so important that a new TM, whatever their previous experience, has to undergo training in the One Traveller way of working. This may mean “shadowing” one of our established managers on an actual holiday, before they are entrusted with escorting our single travellers.
Any Tour Operator requires proficient Tour Managers, it is doubly important however for an organization such as One Traveller which specialises in escorted holidays for singles. Our travellers do not have the advantage of a spouse with whom to discuss any concerns they may have whilst on holiday and consequently rely more heavily on their Tour Manager. The TM of a group of single travellers therefore, in addition to all of the other qualities required, must be particularly sensitive and helpful with regard to any problems or worries his group members may bring to him or her. The ability to deal with this, quite apart from other requirements is one of our main criteria for a One Traveller Tour Manager and this is just one of the many qualities which endear single travellers to our Tour Managers.
